Memphis is an upcoming film from director Tim Sutton (director of Pavillion), starring indie rock musician Willis Earl Beal. He stars as an outsider musician who spends time in Memphis, focusing more on finding his soul with all that Memphis has to offer, rather than working on his music. Aside from Beal the entire cast consists of non-actors that were found in Memphis. This reminds me a lot of Beasts Of The Southern Wild, and once you watch the trailer, you may notice a similar tone as well.
It premiered at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend. Otherwise, we’re not going to see it until sometime next year. Catch the trailer below.
