Parkland is yet another film about JFK’s assassination. Only this time it takes a look at all the regular people who got thrown into the mix of the assassination such as the nurses and doctors who tried to save him, and the cameraman who ended up recording the assassination itself.
It’s the directorial debut of Peter Landesman who also wrote the screenplay. It was produced by Tom Hanks and Bill Paxton amongst others in the Playtone Partners.
The film stars Zac Efron and Marcia Gay Harden as a doctor and nurse, Paul Giamatti as Arnold Zapruder (the man who filmed the assassination), Ron Livingston and Billy Bob Thorton as secret service agents, and James Badge Dale and Jacki Weaver as family members of Lee Harvey Oswald. Tom Welling, Mark Duplass, Rory Cochrane, and Colin Hanks also appear. It sports quite a diverse cast, and looks like a compelling take on a story we’re all well versed in.
Parkland comes out on September 20. Find the trailer below.
