Captain Philips tells the incredible true story of the captain of a ship that was hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009 and his fight for survival. Tom Hanks plays the captain and it was directed by Paul Greengrass. It looks like an intense ride that shouldn’t be missed.
I do love Tom Hanks, but I can’t help but wonder if the film would have been better served by casting a newcomer to take the role, as the rest of the crew and the pirates are mostly newcomers. I just wonder if it will take me out of the film a little bit with such a big star there amongst unknowns.
I’m sure Hanks is fine though, he is Tom Hanks after all.
