The Fifth Estate tells the story of Julian Assange, the founder of the controversial website WikiLeaks. The film is partly based on Domscheit-Berg’s book “Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and the World’s Most Dangerous Website”, as well as the Guardian book “WikiLeaks” by David Leigh and Luke Harding.
The great Benedict Cumberbatch will play Assange, and based on the film’s trailer, he nails this role. It seems there is no role that Cumberbatch can’t do. The film also stars Daniel Brühl as Assange’s partner Daniel Domscheit-Berg. Stanley Tucci, Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, and David Thewlis round out the rest of the cast, with Bill Condon behind the lens.
Didn’t have too much interest in this before hand but based on the trailer and Cumberbatch, I am actually interested in checking this out. It comes out October 18. Watch the trailer below.
