Naturally when I heard that there was a Lego movie in the works, it left me rolling my eyes. But when I saw that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were behind it, I rest assured that it would probably be well off. They were the duo who did Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs as well as 21 Jump Street. Even with such a good team behind it, I naturally had some doubts about how a movie about Legos could be pulled off.

The first trailer has arrived, and it actually looks pretty fantastic.

The movie will show what happens when one specially chosen Lego guy has to save their world. Everyone thinks he is this extraordinary person and they mistakenly choose him to save the day. He is thrown into a journey much bigger than him, as the fate of their world relies on him.

The trailer shows some breathtakingly cool stop motion that looks amazing. The cast is astonishing as well. Chris Pratt stars as the lead character Emmett. There’s also vocal work from Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, and Nick Offerman. Last but not least, Will Arnett is voicing Batman. Brilliant bit of casting there, as you will see from his small bit in the trailer.

Amazing cast, great animation, and a creative force behind it. You know what, I’m actually really looking forward to seeing The Lego Movie when it comes out next year (February 7, 2014). It seems to have the same nostalgic glow that Wreck It Ralph had, and we all saw how great that movie turned out to be.
