Snowpiercer is the film adaptation of the graphic novel Le Transperceneige. After humanity causes a new ice age, the survivors take refuge on a train that is powered by a perpetual motion engine that circles the globe. Society is held on this train, and of course, division of class and wealth is still upheld, dividing people by where they’re located on the train. The further you are from the engine, the less your valued. Eventually, the underclass has enough and finally revolts. It’s a pretty cool concept that takes a bit of different ideas to create something unique.
The film is directed by Bong Joon-ho, in his English-language debut. The film features a pretty stunning cast that includes Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ed Harris, Kang-ho Song, Alison Pill, Ewen Bremner, and Ko Asung. The first trailer makes things look pretty epic.
With so many big blockbuster movies coming out, it’s no surprise that ‘Snowpiercer’ has been slightly overlooked. It doesn’t even have an official release date yet. But based on the plot and this exciting trailer, I have no problem saying that I’m terrifically excited to see this film.
