On the rise Copenhagen sing-songwriter Indians made one of his NYC debut performances last night opening for Other Lives at The Music Hall Of Williamsburg. It was an impressive set of songs that ranged from folk singer-songwriter stuff, to more dazzling electronic outbursts that were both trippy and endearing. He is releasing his debut album Somewhere Else this Janaury 29 on 4AD. Listen to the amazing “Cakelakers” here. From the sound of his set, it’s going to be one hell of an album.

Other Lives opened for Radiohead for good reason. They play dark evocative powerhouse tunes worthy of note. The crowd there acted as though Other Lives were their musical saviors. While Other Lives may not have the largest fan base – they definitely have a tightly dedicated one. These fans were passionate through their knowledge of ever word, and enthusiastic emotional response throughout.

They swept me up with heartfelt songs that were dark, mysterious, evoking powerful emotional responses at will. They are a very modest group, but one that should be very proud of how accomplished and sincere their music is.
