Django Django played a sold out show at the intimate Knitting Factory in Brooklyn last night. The band recently proved their worth as their debut album got nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize.
The band sound just as refined and unique live as they do on record. They know a thing or two about integrating dance-rock jams with singular layers and textures. The synth plays a heavy role live, serving as a bridge in songs, and between songs.
The rock was also brough. “Default” was a dominant monster live, not surprisingly the clear winner of the night. It hit hard. One minute they’re electrifying you with psychedelic fuzz, then their serenading you with colorful synths, and then rocking you to your core. Their live show is just as diverse as their recorded work.
Django Django aren’t the flashiest live act, but they bring a high assortment of quality tunes that makes you perfectly ok with that.
