I haven’t been able to stop listening to Widowspeak ever since Ethan of Indian Rebound recommended them to me. Earlier this year they released a few 7″ singles on Captured Tracks which includes the magnificent “Gun Shy”. The label will also release the bands s/t debut album on August 9, only a few days away. It didn’t take long for the band to grab my attention with such an effective sound that “Gun Shy” displays. Take a listen:

Can’t wait to listen to the album in full and see what else these guys can do. For now take a listen to “Nightcrawlers”, another song from the album. I also threw in their cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” that they did. It’s just as good as Washed Out’s. Enjoy.
The band are playing a record release show this Tuesday at Glasslands. I’d be there but I already have tickets for Sufjan’s show in Prospect Park. Not a bad excuse, right?
