My Morning Jacket have given the title track from new album Circuital, away as a free download. The band is releasing the album on May 31st via ATO Records. It’s their first album in nearly three years.
Fans who were disappointed by the band last album, Evil Urges, should be more content with the sound found on “Circuital”. It’s a seven minute jam that brings the southern psych rock sound of their earlier days back to the forefront. The band recorded the new album live, letting spontaneity take over. It creates a free-spirit groove that allows the song to breeze by. You won’t even realize it’s seven minutes long.
I’m excited about this album. After Z, I expected Evil Urges to be the worthy follow up. Looks like Circuital will take that role.
