The Decemberists are set to release their fifth album “The Hazards Of Love” on March 24th, 2009. The album will be an epic 17 tracks long, and you can only expect The Decemberists to pull it off. In order to give the album a bit of early buzz, the band has decided to make “The Rake’s Song” available for free download. The song has some teeth to it, with guitars at the forefront strummed with full force. Colin Meloy’s signature vocals are there to remind us that this is The Decemberists, even if the sound is a little bit heavier. This is an excellent track, I wonder if the rest of the album sounds as “angry”? Guess we will have to wait and see!
