White Lies are a band rising quickly on the horizon. They are a post-punk indie rock band from London, that play dark tunes that sound 10x better played in the dark at night. The reasons for this come true because reports tell me that they mention death in all of their songs in one way or another. They have received comparisons to the likes of Interpol, Echo & The Bunnymen, Joy Divison, The Smiths and The Killers.

My friends at Toolshed describe them quite perfectly.

White Lies are the glowering, glistening, moody, magnificent, cheekbones-of-granite, stone cold future of Rock…

The first song I heard from them was single ‘Unfinished Business’ and this is some serious material. The song starts off with a piano organ similar to Interpol’s ‘Next Exit’. It then goes into a quickly strummed bass line and quick guitar strums that sum up to something quite nice. The vocals definetly remind me of The Smiths. This track is a must have for any of you fans craving for some masterful 2008 sounds. These guys are going to be mentioned quite a bit in the upcoming new year. Single ‘Death’ is another steller track that starts out dark and brooding but transformed into an upbeat rhythem with a breeding chorus that surely calls out similarities to Joy Division.

They got an EP coming out titled ‘Death EP’ and will be expected out on October 21. The band have just finished their debut album “To Lose My Life Or Lose My Love” which can be expected early 2009. Keep an eye out for these lads.
