For all you guys that aren’t big on Arctic Monkeys, sorry for the overload of Arctic Monkeys related material. I’m done being a fanboy. It’s time to deliver good stuff from the others bands out there.

The Horrors new single “Still Life” premiered yesterday, and it’s bloody fantastic. This is another band that was a big hit for the NME buzz train. I was a fan of their debut, but it was the dark snyth development that they made on 2nd album, Primary Colours, that really caught my attention. Their development as a group was significant to the point that The Horrors became a band whose future I was willing to invest in.

The band is releasing a new album called Skying on July 26 via XL. “Still Life” is further evidence that The Horrors have come a long way. It’s a slow burning song that slowly moves through dark corridors of dark romanticism. It’s synth heavy, but the real leader of the song is the mood. You become immersed in the dark musical waves and there’s simply no way to escape it. You don’t want to anyway.

That’s when I hit repeat.
