John Legend and The Roots put together a cover album titled Wake Up. Their cover of Arcade Fire didn’t end up making the album, but it didn’t stop them from covering it live at Terminal 5 last week. Spike Lee directed the clip and the rest of the show’s recording which was the latest in Vevo’s “Unstaged” series.
I don’t think any cover will ever come close to Arcade Fire’s original, but this is as fresh of a take as any of “Wake Up”:
