There are many reasons to love The Walkmen. It may be Hamilton’s voice, or the sinister guitars heard on “The Rat”. Over the last few albums, it’s their use of horns. This is especially true when you listen to the bands newest song “Stranded”. The horns are captivating, creating a grand atmosphere. The band almost stays back, keeping their parts to a minimum. “Stranded” shows the relationship between Hamilton and the horns, and it’s certainly one I can get used to. The best way to describe “Stranded” is warm & personal.
“Stranded” comes off of The Walkmen’s new album Lisbon, set for a September 14th release on Fat Possum. NPR put up a stream of it earlier this morning and of course a mp3 rip showed up.
