Review: ‘The New Mutants’

By Will Oliver, August 29th 2020

The New Mutants | Josh Boone | August 28, 2020

[Before we dive into Will’s thoughts on New Mutants, a quick note from Will: Last night I drove to the Warwick Drive-In Theater in Warwick, New York to catch a screening of The New Mutants from the safety of my car. We just want to urge people to please only attend a drive-in screening if you are able to safely do so, as movie theaters are not fully reopened nationwide (nor would we recommend stepping foot in a movie theater of any capacity for several hours in the midst of a global airborne pandemic). No movie is worth risking your health and safety. Be safe and well everyone!]

It figures that The New Mutants finally gets released during the chaotic and hellish year that is 2020. Director Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) and the film have had a rocky journey over the past two years, with multiple release delays, reshoots that never occurred, and now an unceremonious release date dump as the first proper big studio film released in the United States during its “comeback” from COVID-19, which is still running rampant throughout our country.

In an extremely shocking bit of news, Disney has decided that Mulan, one of its originally scheduled 2020 surefire worldwide blockbusters, will skip theaters and head directly to Disney Plus at a premium price. Daniel Craig’s final James Bond film No Time To Die comes out on April 4th and duties to pen the final theme was assigned to the young rising pop star Billie Eilish.

Earlier tonight she dropped her Bond theme “No Time To Die,” and is shows a more restrained performance from Eilish, one surrounded by lovely strings and instrumentation that allow her vocals to soar.

It’s a safe bet to say that this song will go the distance come next Oscar season. But for now, let’s just hope that the film itself is a good farewell for Craig.

Enjoy a listen to “No Time To Die” below.

First Look At Robert Pattinson As Batman

By Will Oliver, February 13th 2020

Matt Reeves’ The Batman has started filming and today the director gave us our first look at Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight posted a video of a camera test with the actor donning the suit.

Pattinson looks great in the suit, which features some moody red lighting and a score from composer Michael Giacchino.

Get your first look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman. It’s still early but it looks like people will be eating crow very soon doubting the casting of Pattinson.
