Dry Cleaning are currently back stateside in support of their terrific new album, Secret Love (released via 4AD) and returned to New York for a performance at Brooklyn Steel.
The venues have only gotten rightfully bigger for the English post punkers every time we’ve seen them since but they progressing has suited them nicely. Vocalist Florence Shaw has always been an enchanting presence leading the charge and she has continued to grow into the role nicely with both the new material from Secret Love, as well as many of the now old staples from their discography.

The packed audience at Brooklyn Steel was with them for every step of the way, from the tight rhythm section of bassist Lewis Maynar and drummer Nick Buxton, as well as the mesmerizing guitar work from Tom Dowse. The colorful light show was a much bigger force than I remembered from their past show, but a perfect compliment to their ever-expansive sound.
