The Last Dinner Party made their second ever stop in Boston, moving up from the 1500 capacity Royale to the sold out 3500 capacity Roadrunner. The sing-a-longs were plentiful all evening as the crowd was enraptured with every song.
Lead singer Abigail Morris left the stage and went to the front barricade multiple times to read various signs, one asked for the band to be part of a 24 hour Shakespeare Festival, which they obliged and read a sonnet, and get gifts including a hand made chain stitched bra. The band sounded fantastic including a stand in bass player for Aurora Nishevci, who had to leave the tour due to an injury. The show ended with a wild “This Is the Killer Speaking” that included teaching choreography and a detour into talking about the cartoon Smiling Friends, and a short “Agnus Dei” reprise to cap the night off.
Florence Road kicked things off with an excellent set that had the crowd ecstatic by the set’s end, clearly gaining new fans who haven’t heard of the Irish quartet before.
