Not many artists had a better 2025 than Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, whose album New Threats from the Soul was one of the best critically received albums of the entire year (making our Best Albums of 2025 list).

2025 saw Davis and his band play a handful of intimate shows at Union Pool and opening slots for Snocaps at Bowery Ballrom, but he made his way back to New York for a sold out performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 2.

Getting to see an act as they rise in real time is always a thrill, as there is a shared realization of this moment between the artist and the crowd. From the opening performance of “The Simple Joy” onward, the crowd was totally up for the assignment, and Davis and The Roadhouse Band delivered a set worthy of all the shared anticipation. They ran through tracks across the new album as well as his 2023 debut, Dancing On The Edge, bringing each to life with a tight-knit blend of alt country and indie rock, delivered with a swift soulful touch that calls to mind acts like Silver Jews and Sturgill Simpson.

It was a fantastic statement of a new era for Davis, as his expansive band brought their songs to life in a way that you can imagine will fill out the even larger rooms that await in the future. We are excited to see what comes next for them in the future.
