Lithia is a Chicago indie rock project fronted by songwriter Sylvia Vaser. Last month they released their debut album, Pink House, an album that “captures the feeling of everything falling apart around you in slow motion.”

The evocative single and title track “Pink House” is a track that was written after a visit to a spite house by the sea. It opens with an ethereal dreamy quality that does capture a sea-side haunted nature, with a widescreen soaring nature that builds and builds into an emotional swell. Vaser’s powerhouse vocals leave an undeniable impression, soaring into the night in a way that feels otherworldly and cinematic, before transforming into something even more grandiose and singular.

Further detailing the track, Vaser adds:

“I’ve always been drawn places that seem to have been forgotten in time. The Pink House is a real place I stumbled upon while driving in Massachusetts. I stopped to snap a picture, not knowing the story behind it being a spite house. It was built based on a divorce agreement that didn’t specify a location, plumbed for saltwater, and made completely uninhabitable. No one really knows if the story is true. But the house itself seems to be almost like a mirror for ones own unwillingness to forgive and feelings of alienation. Nothing could survive it but itself, whether built in spite or not.”.
