East Sister are a band out of Switzerland who recently returned with their new single, “Mixtape”, the second song from their upcoming album,
It’s a song about falling in love for songs, rather than the people behind them, one that harnesses the best of modern bedroom pop, channeling the heartfelt longing built into its DNA, with elements of a more polished 80s sound. Think Men I Trust, Mac DeMarco and Jay Som, with a romantic feeling that is delivered with traces of r&b and pop in a way that feels like a distant memory that you nearly forgot about but want to cherish like it was only yesterday.
About the song, they add:
And so, in a way, their wish comes true: by choosing to fall for the songs themselves rather than for the person behind them, they choose a version of love without heartbreak, one that should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Mixtape is, at the same time, a thank-you for making music together, a love letter to songwriting, and to music in general. Sincere, yet with a slight wink.
