Summer Underground are high school friends-turned bandmates-turned lovers. The Los Angeles duo has been making jams in their basement since 2011 and returned with their new album, ROLLING ROCK, on January 16.
“We Can Be In Our Underwear” is described as both a “portrait of grief and a sensual love song”, that is built on an enchanting dreamy slow burn that feels like waking up as the sun shines through the blinds. There’s a gorgeous emotional sentiment to the track, which gradually gains even more emotional traction as it expands its reach into something breathtaking, emotional, and true with plenty gorgeous jazzy flourishes that only enrich it further.
Or as they describe it:
“It’s both a candid portrait of grief and a sensual love song: a story about the stolen quiet moments in a house subsumed with the death of a loved one. Sometimes, a lovers touch can momentarily melt away even the most existential anxieties.”
