Solbore is the project of Brighton-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and label/studio founder Vlad Matveikov who has recently shared new single”We Are Not Young Anymore”, the first in a new series of tracks.
“We Are Not Young Anymore” features trip hop beats and heady atmospherics, as well duel vocals from Bristol-basedsingers Ellie Godwin (of No Violet / Peach) and Aisling Rhiannon Whiting (Sans Froid). There’s a dreamy otherworldy nature to the production that is given an ethereal quality from their vocal performance, which is haunted yet strangely hopeful. It’s like a blend of Young Fathers and Wolf Alice
Speaking on the track, Vlad adds:
“Once the piece had drums on it, it already sounded great but I could hear this song being a vocal duet. I knew Ellie and Ash on a surface level ‘cause they are part of the broader scene, I’m a fan of their bands, and we’d hang when our paths crossed at gigs. It was a bit out of left field, but I sen t them a message to see if they wanted to write for this tune together. When they smashed out the vocal on this, it was even better than I’d imagined. It was like the music version of umami.”
