Biloba is the project of DJ Stanfill, a musician from Los Angeles, who has recently returned with single “Ship of Theseus.”
The track is a taste of an upcoming album and a song that is described as a “hellbent quest to throw off the old cynicism.” There is an uplifted spirit to the track which features traces of the intimate nature of early Alex G, with a bedroom folk gentle stirring nature, paired with some big uplifting horns that call to mind some of Illinois-era Sufjan Stevens. It operates with a genuine sense of grandeur and wonder that packs an emotional punch.
