Leilani Patao is a Brooklyn-based (via Los Angeles) singer-songwriter who recently their debut EP, daisy, last month via Audio Antihero.
“Red Hair Dye” is the final single shared from the EP and a moment that sees her call out to her mom. The track is carried with a nostalgic tone and spirit that is features a 90s-esque style of production and delivery that fits the bill. It reminds us of some of the early work of artists like Alex G, Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy, with a raw wistful nature that pierces straight to the soul.
Speaking on the track, Patao adds:
“I’m calling out to my mom. First as a grown up asking for advice, and then as a child, just wanting a hug from my mom. I really hope she understands this one.”
