London-based band Howling Bells have returned with single “Unbroken”, their first new music since 2024, which is out now via Nude Records.
The track is a big soaring anthemic blend of dreamy indie rock with a leaning showgaze spirit that taps into a 90s sensability. The track captures a bit of The Breeds and Pixies with the lead charge from the soaring vocals of singer Juanita Stein. The band sounds as confident as they left us over a decade ago, sounding fully recharged with a new lease of life.
Speaking further on the track, the band adds:
“You can either call it childlike or stupidity, but you have to have that in order to believe that something greater can happen. Surviving as a band for over two decades requires extraordinary grit and, to some degree, irrationality. None of it really makes sense, except for the will and the love of the music itself. Unbroken is very much a testament to all of this.”
