Cutty is a duo hailing from Hull, UK, consisting of singer Amy Precious and multi-instrumentalist and producer, Kev La Kat.
They recently released their new single “Hard To Memorise”, a track born out of them being tired of hearing the same thing. The track captures a wave of slow building synths and vocals that slowly add up to something rather hypnotic and emotive. A really smooth track that blurs the lines between genres and hits you where it counts.
Speaking on the track, the duo adds:
While working on our upcoming EP Pump Funk, something clicked. Kev said, “I’m fed up with hearing the same thing—let’s make something new.” Amy shot back with a big “yeeeEEEAAH,” and that was it—we were on the same wavelength. A drum break turned into a groove, then came warm chords, juicy organ swells, a bubbling synth bass… and Amy started pouring words onto paper and melodies into the mic. It all unraveled faster than we could’ve imagined.
