French alt pop singer Sarah Maison has recently returned with new single “Exister”, a track from her upcoming debut album, due out via cult via Belgian label Capitane Records.
The track captures the ironic sound of the legendary 60 era French pop of Françoise Hardy with the modern musings of artists like Melody’s Echo Chamber and Alexandra Savior with its ability to make the past seem modern and fresh.
Speaking on the track she adds:
Exister is an ode to nature and a reflection on the absurdity of existence under neoliberalism. We work more to earn more, we buy things we don’t need — endless demands that pull us away from our essence. Meanwhile, trees are allowed to just be. No one judges them when they’re bare in winter. They change, and we accept it. Why can’t we?”
