UK solo artist and LYR vocalist Richard Walters takes upon the tall task of covering Yeah Yeah Yeahs classic song “Maps.”
As a good cover should, he takes the original and offers a vastyl different version, stripping it down to its bare essentials, offering an acoustic and tender cover that gives it a completely different feel – while keeping its soul and DNA intact.
Speaking about his decision to cover “Maps”, Walters adds:
“When I started thinking about recording other people’s songs, ‘Maps’ was the first that came to mind,” says Walters. “The way I hear it now has evolved. It used to sound like 5am heartbreak, now it’s sunlit and euphoric. It’s no longer about losing someone, it’s a reflection of love that’s mutual, full, and enduring. It’s what I feel for my wife, my children, my friends. A reassurance. A promise.”
