David & The Circumstances is the project of Dutch singer-songwriter David Groeneweg. He’s recently returned with “Sunrise”, a song about “overcoming a dark period.”
It’s piece of storytelling that harnesses the raw power of folk rock with some gorgeous instrumentation and pretty instrumentation. There’s an emotive nature to it that packs a swing and significant emotional punch that captures the essence and power of artists like Jose Gonzalez and The Tallest Man On Earth.
Detailing the track, he adds:
This song is about making a challenging journey and coming back home to a renewed sense of appreciation for the world after a period of inner turmoil. It’s a contemplative and hopeful song. I was inspired to write it during a road trip, when we were driving along the coast of California. The accompanying music video, filmed by my partner Tanya Gupta, captures this emotional journey with misty morning footage from a trip through Norway — along the Atlantic Ocean Road, past the jagged cliffs of Trollveggen, and through the winding turns of Trollstigen.
