It’s hard to a fathom a world where this blog exists without Bloc Party and their 2005 debut album, Silent Alarm. It was a game changer for me at a very seminal time, introducing me into an enitrely new world of music I didn’t know exist and helping me becoming the obsessed music fan that I am.

Here we are 20 years later and while the world has surely changed a ton since then, our love for the band at that album remains as strong as ever. We were excited to see that they planned to tour for the occasion this year, which included a big time show in New York at Forest Hills Stadium, as well as a much more intimate performance in New Haven, Connecticut at College Street Music Hall.

While this tour was different than the Silent Alarm anniversary tour that the band did five years ago – they did not play the entire album in sequential order. Rather, a good chunk of the album was performed, spread throughout the setlist between other favorites from across their discography.

It was great to hear all of these songs played in such an intimate room such as College Street, with adoring fans turning back the clock just like myself. The band opening with “So Here We Are” was certainly not lost on me.
