You know New York City summer is in fully swing when the Governors Ball Music Festival returns for its 13th edition for its longstanding run in our great city – marking its 15th anniversary. The festival returned once again to its now steady stomping ground at Flushing Meadows Corona Park for its three day stint across June 6-8. Its become a tradition engrained into the DNA of not only the city but the summer music festival scene.
Over the years the festival has shifted gears to fit modern times, now showcasing a wide breath of sounds and genres that provides something for everyone. Our photographer Ken Grand-Pierre caught performances from Hozier, Tyler The Creator, T-Pain, Benson Boone, Glass Animals. Wallows, Mkgee, Raye, Clairo as well as rocking sets from indie rockers such as Mannequin Pussy, Car Seat Headrest, The Backseat Lovers, and The Japanese House.
There was a diverse range of acts for the equally diverse audience that spanned generations, all of which were perfectly game to fight through the weather to stay loyal and true to their favorite artists. This was the same for Ken, whose shots from throughout the three days can be found posted in the gallery below.
