Derek Xu is a Canadian singer, songwriter and producer who recently returned with new single “Too Much To Ask.”
The track is a dreamy slice of wistful shoegaze / bedroom pop, that comes from the point of few of a narrator who “wishes that someone who suffered due to wealth inequality could have lived a better life.” There’s a reflective and somber / melancholic nature to Xu’s vocals and the production that captures its themes and delivers with raw sincerity.
