Scottish indie-folk singer-songwriter Tommy Ashby is gearing up for the release of his eventual new album Lamplighter and has given us a preview of it with recently shared single “Floorboards.”

It’s a gentle and fragile effort with a hushed and sentimental tone and spirit that is quite simply heartbreaking. The song was recorded in an old chapel in Cornwall during a lull in a storm that rolled in off the Atlantic – and the production captures this setting and surely helps give the song its devastating naturalism and nature.
