Girl Time is a brother and sister duo that caught our attention in 2021 and has since returned with their new single “Yours”, a song written about “a tumultuous relationship nearing its end.”
While based in the world of an acoustic folk sound, the track casts a rather dreamy spell that feels nostalgic and timeless, with a heart of gold – think Frankie Cosmos x Alex G. There is a 90s sensibility at hand, one that they deliver earnestly, which seems to be the goal as the band describe in their quote about its making:
“Yours” was written about a tumultuous relationship nearing its end. I wrote the song on Acoustic guitar initially, then added more layers to it before presenting the components to Ian (my brother and the second half of Girl Time) to produce. The goal was to capture a 90’s bittersweet energy throughout the song.
