Dog Ears is the duo of instrumentalist Cory who is based in Los Angeles and singer, Joel, who is based in Nashville. They have recently let go of their new album Shadow on the Blacktop, a concept album about drivers stuck in a traffic jam.
“The Hauler” is an epic psych rock odyssey of sorts centered around “a long-haul trucker secretly afflicted with lycanthropy, a werewolf desperate to make it home before moonrise.” Fuzzy early-era Tame Impala guitar work blends psych and classic rock goodness with a more trippy shoegaze element to the vocals that combine to an epic grand effect.
