Dublin five-piece MELTS will release their debut album Maelstrom via Mother Sky on May 13th. With its announcement came the arrival of the pummeling new single “Outlier”.

It’s an anthemic odyssey of a song that comes bursting through the speakers with some cinematic soundscapes and synth driven atmosphere. A blend of post-punk vocals, gothic synthwave production and flashes of industrial, all come through to help build up an astonishing sense of temperament and place that is impossible to shake. If the rest of the album is even close.

About the track, frontman Eoin Kenny says:

“Outlier” is about the imaginable distance between objects in space and how leaving one way of life and moving on to another life falling into space, into the void. The title refers to an object or person existing at a distance from the centre of the system.
