German producer composer, producer, and performer Nils Frahm announced that his new album, Old Friends New Friends, will be out on December 3rd on Leiter.
The record is a collection that compiles 23 solo piano tracks recorded between 2009 and 2021, almost all unreleased but omitted from previous albums and projects for one reason or another. The album came together during the pandemic as Frahm used the time to arrange his archives, conscious of the sheer number of recordings he’d accumulated.
With the announcement comes the release of the lead single “All Numbers End.” It’s a quick composition of about 90-seconds, but one with a classical arrangement feel. It’s short and to the point but completely and utterly effective. You can imagine this being used during a film, maybe the next Yorgos Lanthimos picture.
