Megadose is a power pop outfit from Seattle, fronted by Stephen Steen who have given us the distinct honor and pleasure of premiering their new single “Atreides Flight,” taken from their upcoming debut full-length.

A blend of shimmering indie rock and a expansive folk rock sound that feels like a glorious crossover between Real Estate, The War On Drugs, and Kevin Morby, the track carries itself with a lush expansive rock quality, while also standing out with a thick syrupy bassline, and a hopeful vocal performance – not to mention a perfectly placed flute. It’s a song that feels emotional rich, textured, yet also plenty catchy. It’s a track that will touch your heart all while you’re foot is tapping along helplessly.

Find Steen’s insightful explanation about “Atreides Flight” below:

My mom runs a childcare in Anacortes, Washington, and I volunteered to come up and paint the interior over a couple of weekends. As I painted, I listened through the Dune series on audiobook, by Frank Herbert, and just got completely lost in that world: the desert planet Arakis, the mysterious Spice melange, and the unforgiving landscape inhabited by the banished Fremen people. It’s a very dramatic setting (also super nerdy!). So when I sat down to write my next song, a lot of those themes came through — companionship through adversity, finding sweetness in harsh times, that sort of thing. The name Atreides from the song’s title is a nod to the family of central characters in the books.

We are excited to share with you the premiere of this lovely new single, which you can find streaming right here:
