During 30-hour shifts at his hospital during this year’s global pandemic, Belgian doctor Gert Stockmans went looking for stress relief. As a hobbyist music photographer, he had some connections in the music industry and reached out to those willing to participate in his new project.

He recruited Thomas Francot and Ruben Vandael, guitar player and drummer for MANTIS, and together they recorded their first track “Inspiral” and just like that A Place In Between was founded.

The track goes in hard on the heavy post-punk atmospheric vibes, with a sense of longing and nostalgia hidden deep within the shadows. Think like a mix between Explosions In The Sky, Deafheaven and Sigur Rós. They recruited Sam Coussens of Pothamus to lay down vocals and Stockmans got his brother-in-law, videographer Frank Resseler, to take care of the music video for the track.
