Boston-based singer-songwriter Anjimile has announced their debut album is entitled Giver Taker and will be released via Father/Daughter Records on September 18th. The announcement comes with the release of the lovely new single “Maker.”

Anjimile is the moniker of Anjimile Chithambo, who wrote the album while they were in treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, as well as while in the process of living more fully as a nonbinary trans person. The rest is an introspective album that touches upon the loss of family and friends and grief, but also the chance for new growth. As Anjimile explains:

A lot of the album was written when I was literally in the process of improving my mental health, so there’s a lot of hopefulness and wonder at the fact that I was able to survive. Not only survive but restart my life and work towards becoming the person I was meant to be.

“Maker” is a track that showcases their clear songwriting talent, one that bounces around a few different genres, really finding itself as it’s own sort of things, emotional, yet hopeful, melancholic but also uplifting.

You can find the lyric video for “Maker” available to listen to below, along with the album art and tracklist.
