Aladdin Musical Synopsis:

A Middle Eastern folk tale from “One Thousand and One Nights”, going through tons of productions, a
1992 animated film, hit Broadway Musical and now a live-action film, yet the core of the story remains
the same.

Aladdin is a street-smart commoner and Jasmine is the princess of the mystic empire of Agrabah. When
they meet by chance in the street of Arabian Markets sparks fly and they hit-off perfectly. Both could
live in that moment and never be unsatisfied. However, not until Sultan’s evil Vizier Jafar is there.

In the pretense of saving Aladdin, when he and Jasmine are discovered together and Aladdin is
sentenced to death. Jafar asks Aladdin for a favor, he throws him in the Cave of wonders to find a magic
lamp. Jafar plans to overthrow the Sultan and take over Agrabah with the power of that magical lamp.

Aladdin accidentally rubs the lamp, once found, to clean it. Then a Genie emerges from the lamp and
asks Aladdin for his three wishes. Now Aladdin is set to entice Jasmine as Prince Ali and turn Jafar’s evil
plans to ashes.

The Secret to Its Success:

The 2 hours and 30 mins show including a 15 mins intermission is a success however you see it. But
what’s the secret? As mentioned earlier the story has been through a lot from multiple productions
animated, musicals and films. Aladdin Musical is not called Broadway Hit for anything though. The story
is the same but there is added razzle-dazzle. The production literally shines and sparkles in a good sense
of course. Other than the colors and lights, the production has mixed a little Looney Tunes sense into
the show. To give it that animated bravado that we all come looking for in a Disney creation.

The cast comfortably leads the show with brilliance in both action and singing. The score is wonderful
and actors provide it the energetic oomph that it deserves. Even the ensemble goes about doing
whatever in a pure Disney discipline.

Overall, it justifies the price you paid to enter the theater. There are many awe-striking moments and
some when you forget this is real. Especially that magic carpet ride, you didn’t think they would miss it,
had you?
