Today the Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced the 30 films that make up the main slate for the 56th edition of the New York Film Festival.

It was previously announced that Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite would open, Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma will serve as the centerpiece and Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity’s Gate will close things out.

The rest of the main slate is an interesting and well-rounded of a lineup as one would come to expect from the festival. Some heavy-hitters include If Beale Street Could Talk, Barry Jenkins’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning (and NYFF selected) Moonlight, as well as The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the latest from the Coen Brothers.

There’s also Paul Dano’s directorial debut Wildlife, Alex Ross Perry’s Her Smell, Lee Chang-dong’s Burning, Jean-Luc Godard’s The Image Book, Claire Denis’ High Life, Olivier Assayas’ Non-Fiction, Tamara Jenkins’ Private Life and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Shoplifters, among many others.

This main slate showcases films from 22 different countries and is described by NYFF Director Kent Jones as a lineup with the shared theme of “bravery.”

The 56th New York Film Festival takes place from September 28-October 14 and tickets can be bought right here.
