In April California indie rockers Local Natives returned with their fourth album Violet Street via Loma Vista Recordings and have been touring hard in support of the new record. Touring with them in support is Australia’s Middle Kids, who released their new EP New Songs For Old Problems last month via Domino Records. On June 7th the two performed for the second straight night at a sold out Brooklyn Steel, our first time seeing them since they played Terminal 5 back in 2016.

Following the triumphant opening performance from Middle Kids who are quickly making a case for one of the most exciting young bands on the scene, it was time for the headlining set from Local Natives. With four albums now under their belt the band has plenty of material to choose from. A good chunk of the setlist was comprised of new material off of Violet Street, but they still gave plenty of time to old favorites from their debut album Gorilla Manor such as “Wide Eyes,” “World News,” and “Sun Hands,” which still soared every bit as much as we remember. They upped the ante with their touring production, giving fans not one, but two confetti blasts, with the first coming at the end of the regular set’s performance of new single “When Am I Gonna Lose You,” and then again to close out the encore with the old staple, “Who Knows, Who Cares.”
