2018 was a somewhat calm year of John Dwyer and Oh Sees, as they only released one album this year, with their prog-metal album Smote Reverser, released via his own Castle Face Records back August. They are of course hard at work touring in support of the new album, which brought them back for a 3-night run at Warsaw (where we caught them last year).

We caught the night 1 performance on October 17, which started with opening performances from Timmy’s Organism and The Flying Luttenbachers.

Oh Sees have seemed to find a home away from home with Warsaw, the venue that they seem to have returned to quite a few times ever since Dwyer went with the two-drummer lineup as Oh Sees. It’s a good fit for the band who gave thunderous renditions of both newer material off Smote Reverser and Orc and other most recent entries, along with live staples such as “The Dream,” “Tidal Wave” and “Toe Cutter – Thumb Buster.”

It was yet another thunderous performance from the always fantastic Oh Sees, further proof that they’re one of the best live bands working today – as if we needed any more.
