Ever since Girls, the star of Adam Driver has slowly, but consistently, been on the rise. Now with the latest rumor, he could be taking his biggest leap yet. According to Variety, Driver is close to signing a deal to play the main villain in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars Episode VII. This has been in the rumor mill for months, with Driver’s Girls schedule thought to be the problem preventing it from happening. But it looks as if that has been cleared up.

Variety’s sources say no deal is done yet, but the two sides are getting close. The details on the villain aren’t known yet either, but apparently it will be somewhere in the same vein as Darth Vader. Wow.

If these reports are legit, Driver is the first cast member to be revealed for the highly anticipated Star Wars entry, which comes out in theaters December 18, 2015.

Driver constantly steals scenes on Girls, and is my favorite part of the show. Last year he had some short but memorable appearances in Inside Llewyn Davis and Frances Ha, marking him as one of the hottest young actors in the game. If this rumor is true, this would obviously represent a huge breakthrough in the actor’s very promising career.

All we need is the official word from Disney.

This news makes his involvement in this song that much more great:
