Ok, so maybe Washed Out shouldn’t be called a band. Rather, it is the moniker of the solo project of Georgia native Ernest Greene.

Think of Washed Out’s music as a retro lo-fi electronic chill music. Music that you blast on your laziest day, that Sunday where your room is a mess, your sticking to your chair, and you don’t give a fuck. Washed Out’s debut EP Life Of Leisure is a perfect soundtrack for any lazy moment. The title suites his sound perfectly.

His beats are chill, his vocals are comforting. He uses just enough effects and layers in each song, not to overwhelm the listener like so many new electronic acts do. Washed Out use just enough, allowing the track to grow on it’s own, wrapping its legs around the listeners mind. His sense of melody is beyond dreamy.

The EP is short, but sweet. It is something you want to return to again and again. Accessible and already familiar, even if it is your first listen. The true indication of good music.

The scary part is he has only been at this for a few months!! I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for music!

Here are two stellar tracks from his EP. Makes me think of a summer that I already lost. Sigh!
