Best Of 2013

A month ago I put you guys up to the task of naming your favorite albums/songs of 2013, with my annual readers poll. I got to share my favorite albums and songs of the year but now it’s your turn.

As the final step in my year end list, the readers poll is always exciting because I get to see how my tastes compare with my readers. A couple hundred of you participate  and I thank all of you who did for taking the time to vote. For the most part, our tastes were pretty similar (which makes sense), but there were a few surprises here and there, and a few albums and songs that I myself missed out on. That’s the beauty of these things. There’s always new discoveries ready to be found.

This finally wraps up my best of 2013 stuff, and with this, we can finally fully push forward to the new year. With that said, here are your favorite albums and songs of 2013:

Readers Poll 2013

Best of 2013

Hey guys, it’s that time of year again for the Readers Poll. I’ll be rolling out my best of lists soon. But first, I want to keep the tradition going and hear from you guys.
Below fill out the poll by selecting your favorite album of the year. If it’s not listed, you can add it. Then you can add your favorite song (please use the “artist – song” format), and a band I should keep an eye out for next year.

I’ll post the results sometime at the end of the month. Thanks for participating and for sticking with me for another great year!

About 200 of you guys participated in our annual readers poll, and the results were tight. You had the chance to vote for 5 albums, and I gave each album a point value, decreasing with each vote. So first place got 5 points, second place got 4, etc…

The race was very close between Frank Ocean & Tame Impala, but in the end, Frank Ocean took home the Orange gold. All in all, the taste of you faithful bunch alligns quite well with mine, minus Mumford & Sons. In total, 252!! albums were voted for, which is insane. That pretty much sums up how much music we digest. Which makes these top 25 albums that much more impressive.

See the results below with the points earned. Well done guys, and here is to a happy 2013! Here is my favorite albums of 2012 as well as my favorite songs.

We All Want Someone To Shout For’s Readers Poll 2012

By Will Oliver, December 17th 2012

I love making year end lists like any music nerd/lover. With the blog it’s become an annual tradition. But one of my favorite parts of all the list making is when I get to turn the tables and ask my faithful readers what they were digging over the year, and to see how their opinions compare to mine. In the end, it’s just a lot of fun to see and participate in.

We have run a readers poll for the last few years, and the results have been great. This year I made it a bit more simple. You can write in 5 of your favorite albums and songs. I will give 5 points to the 1st place vote, 4 to the 2nd, and etc…I’ve also added a category for your favorite music blog of 2012 (don’t vote for us – no matter how tempting that is), and artist to look out for in 2013.

Poll’s will be open until January 5, 2013. Have fun!

We All Want Someone To Shout For’s 2011 Readers Poll Results

By Will Oliver, January 8th 2012 — with 2 comments

We’ve done readers polls in the past, but the amount of you that came out and voted this year blew my mind. Thanks to google docs, I was able to make the voting simple and breezy for all of you, and you guys came out in crazy numbers. 659 of you voted for your favorite album/song of the year, and I’m still in shock that so many of you took the time to vote, so thank you.

The album results aren’t too surprising (a good thing!), while the song stays pretty true to my own top list, with a few surprises thrown in. But is was basically the year of Bon Iver/M83, as we all know.

This finally wraps up my end of the year coverage for 2011. The results are posting below.

Thanks again for a great year!

I didn’t do top songs because there were simply too many different song selections. Don’t know what I was thinking when I asked that. Thanks for sending them, though. It was awesome to see everyone’s picks.

Here is my list, if you somehow missed out.

Update: Today is the last day to vote. If you haven’t already voted, and you want to

participate, then VOTE!

Hey there readers of We All Want Someone To Shout For! I am busy listening to tons of 2009 albums, preping my best of 2009 list, and I came up with a cool idea. I want you guys to send me your favorite albums of the year, so that I can compile a list based on you guys!

All you have to do is send a list of albums (minimum of 5 albums!) with a title referring to this post to my email [email protected]. Please do this by midnight on January 5th, 2010! I will post the list when it is all said and done, and we can see what you guys picked!

**The only thing I ask if that you guys send me the list in numbered order! It helps me compile the list accurately! If I just do it based on alphabetical, Animal Collective will get a shitload of votes (its not like they need the help!) So if you guys could do that, it would make the process a lot easier! THANKS!

This is all for fun, so don’t stress out over it. I just figured it would be interesting to see what your lists looked like compared to mine!

So send the lists over to my email by January 5th, please & thank you!
