Pinback at Irving Plaza (October 8, 2017)

By Will Oliver, November 23rd 2017

I’ve been a fan of Pinback ever since teenage me discovered “Fortress” because of it’s inclusion in The O.C. I had tried to catch them live countless times, but it never quite worked out and it didn’t help that they have basically stopped touring for the past few years.

But I finally got my chance on October 8 when the duo of Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith IV returned to New York for a performance at Irving Plaza to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album Autumn of the Seraphs.

[new]: Pinback – Proceed To Memory

By Will Oliver, August 16th 2012 — with 1 comment

Pinback have released “Proceed To Memory” the first single from their new album, Information Retrieved. It’s their first album in five years.

It’s a steady-headed gallop of a tune that gets bigger with every step forward that it takes. Anthematic in a understated way. It’s very good to have the band back. The song premiered on Rolling Stone yesterday, and is yours to stream right now.

Information Retrieved comes out October 6 via Temporary Residence Ltd.

Max Min – Alpaca Socks

By Will Oliver, October 12th 2011

Earlier this summer Max Min delighted me with “Anonymous”. He’s back with a new song titled “Alpaca Socks” that defines indie-pop perfection. It has a warm glow like the suns beaming reflection bouncing off a rear view mirror. Sort of reminds me of Pinback.

Here’s what Max had to say about the song:

Weird title, I know. I was inspired by a great idea currently floating around in the interweb. The song is about Bitcoin, a digital currency that could show us the way to a new financial system – something we badly need.

Stream it below, and grab a free mp3 download from Max here.
