Los Angeles rockers Goon are set to release their proper debut album this year via Partisan Records, following their two well-received EPs and a handful of singles. Last night they made their NYC live debut at Saint Vitus, opening for Dead Soft.

The band’s 90s sun-soaked garage rock sounds familiar but leans into the raw energy and lo-fi fuzz that works to wonderful effect. Live the band provides an even tighter display of this, winning over the room from the second they ripped into the set opener “Green Peppers” all the way to the set-closing performance of one of their standout offerings “Cammie at Night.”

They recently released a music video for their new single “Datura” and based on that and their great live performance last night, we’re excited to see what else this year brings for these guys.
